Tip Rebellion

Single mother Ruby works as a seafood waitress to afford her daughter’s asthma treatment. When restaurant owner Howard secretly siphons 15–40% of the staff’s tips through fake fees, Ruby rallies seven struggling coworkers to expose his scheme. With a technician’s help, they gather evidence and launch a peaceful protest, winning nearly $100,000 in stolen wages with help from a pro bono labor lawyer. Determined to build a fairer future, the eight women open Lighthouse, a worker-owned restaurant where tips and profits are shared equally. Over the next 15 years, they overcome financial struggles, corporate rivals, and a pandemic, eventually building a nationwide network that helps underpaid service workers fight for the wages they deserve.
